When I became a mother, I gained a new layer of self, creating an exponentially complicated manner of existence. I am a mother, a partner, an individual, a complex and multidimensional being. My current work addresses the personal and intricate experience of motherhood through complex paper assemblages. These works, small enough to be constructed in my lap are an honest exploration of both the joys and struggles of motherhood, lovingly crafted to emphasize intimate, tender, and reflective moments. Repetition and overlap of figures represent division of time and roles, while layers of paper replicate the expansion of self, acquired through motherhood.
