Jessica Stanhagen creates intimate, honest and loving work about motherhood and self through complex layered paintings and paper assemblages. Her use of domestic materials is evocative of both the strength and resiliency of women and mothers. Her awards include the Jean J. Slenker Memorial Scholarship for Fiber Arts and the Richard and Patricia Henkels Award for Arts Achievement. She has exhibited throughout Philadelphia, including exhibitions at Fleisher Art Memorial and Rosenwald Wolf Gallery. An emerging artist, Stanhagen studies at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and will graduate with her Master of Fine Arts in December 2020. She currently resides in West Chester, Pennsylvania with her family.
