Stanhagen's work provides a glimpse into her everyday life. She interprets her experience with motherhood, family, repetitive tasks, and the imperfect reality of daily routine through portraiture. Her work records and recalls intimate moments with self and family. Her awards include the Jean J. Slenker Memorial Scholarship for Fiber Arts and the Richard and Patricia Henkels Award for Arts Achievement. She has exhibited throughout Philadelphia, including exhibitions at Fleisher Art Memorial, Rosenwald Wolf Gallery, and Marginal Utility Gallery. Stanhagen is a full time high school arts teacher, artist, and mother. She currently resides in West Chester, Pennsylvania with her family.
